The DRS TV news on Friday showed the aftermath of the storms which broke many of the windows in the Kloster at Einsiedeln. Teenage students were getting on with the job and cleaning up the glass. I was trying to imagine the equivalent situation in England, where a working mum is being updated by the school:

"Sorry luv. healf and safety. Did a risk analysis. Kids could cut themselves on the glass. Can't have that. Same thing for the teachers. Maintenance staff are only allowed clean up at most one pane of glass. Council healf and safety officer agreed when I telephoned. A specialized company is coming in for the cleanup. You can imagine, they're busy at the moment. Should be here in a week or so. School maybe open again in two weeks. I'm sure you'll love having the kids at home"

May not be UK bashing too much, at the moment your one and only Slammer is is Blackburnistan and some of the things that are going on here will make you love CH all the more, thinking of a park sign "no whites allowed" for one, the cops who tazered Raoul Moat loosing their jobs for two.
