Just published is the top cars sold in Switzerland in the last 12 months.

174‘033 new cars were sold in the last 12 months, nearly 6% more than a year ago. Dacia being the the "brand" with the largest increase - not everyone in Switzerland can afford those RR or Aston Martins .

Nothing out of the ordinary but amazed how close they (in terms of sales) are aside the top top 2 which are basically the same car anyway ...:

Skoda Octavia with 3785 sold
VW Polo with 2682 sold
Audi A4 with 2445 sold
Ford Fiesta with 2424 sold
Opel Astra with 2367 sold
BMW 3 series with 2241 sold
Audi A3 with 2186 sold

Seat Ibiza with 2123 sold

cars here are efficient enough. a diesel here will get the same mileage a prius would....yes look it up.....

Reason for what I said is because every second cab you see on the streets these days is Prius.

Does this mean that there are more of these cars on the roads and thus more of them get sold? Or is it a representation of turnover, regardless of sales?

would be interesting to see regional or canton differences. In Zurich everyone drives BMWs, mercs and rolls

It's a bit of a coup when you consider that VW, Skoda, Audi and Seat are all the same company sharing floorplans, engines, drivetrains etc.
