You're joking right? When was Switzerland part of a German empire? Surely you mean the French or the Romans.

The Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, Roman, nor an empire.

Discuss.

(Hint: It was a German empire, of sorts)

Re: Swissier than the Swiss?

Well I know just about every empire came through here; Romans, Charlemagne, Franks, Burgunds, Merovignians, Carlingians, etc. But to say they were Germans.... It's just as valid to say they were French or Romans, no?

Er... everyone you just mentioned, with the exception of the Romans, was German.

Didn't you have to do a history test when you applied for citizenship?
