Re: Does Lausanne transit offer multi-ride tickets?

Thanks, everyone, for their help on this one. We'll be moving closer to my husband's work in January and it will probably then make sense to just buy a monthly pass. Too bad about the lack of multi-ride tickets in this area, however.

Thanks, HeatherM, but what are the machines that don't have a display that people seem to be validating tickets in? We've seen them at many stations, including Metro stations and have the impression people are validating tickets.
You can buy regular multi-ride train tickets from the SBB and validate them in those orange machines at the station. People who e.g. commute from Morges to Lausanne might do this. The TL "displayless" machines are for people who are checking the validity or updating the validity of their TL monthly passes.

You'll notice that at regular bus stops there are no validation-type machines anywhere.

Not anymore. The Multiple journey card is no longer available when the entire trip is within the Mobilis fare zone. I checked this today.

However, I noticed two things today. First, a Mobilis day card for a given number of zones (7 in my case) costs double the standard ticket price for the same journey. On other words, a Mobilis day card is the new "round-trip" ticket. Kind of nice if I want to go home at lunchtime or go to IKEA after work with a stop at home first -- I don't need to spend any additional money.

Second, the SBB machine had a multi-day Mobilis offering that was zone selectable (it's NOT an all-Mobilis abonnement) and it's priced at 6x the cost of a day card for the same number of zones. I think it's good for six days. What I don't know is if I can pick and choose the days somehow or if it's limited to six contiguous days. I'll check the machine again today.

So in summary, with the expansion of Mobilis we gained a few things and we lost a few things. This could save a few people some money, particularly those who switch from train to tram/metro/bus and were buying a separate ticket. The rest of us will spend more due to the fare increases.

Re: Does Lausanne transit offer multi-ride tickets?

Found this thread as I was wanting to ask exactly the same question. Can someone from Lausanne confirm that there are no multi-journey tickets (either 6 x single journey or 6 x day tickets) within the Mobilis area till now 2012? I would really miss that as it is common in German-speaking regions in CH for occasional travels.

6x day tickets, yes.

No 6x single journey, unless you are going to or leaving from a stop that's outside the Mobilis fare zone.
