Best place to buy a new BMW?

Hi,

I'm new to Switzerland (EG / B permit holder) and want to buy a new BMW (3 Touring). Any advice on where to get the best deal? I know dealers give a discount on new cars, but wouldn't know which one to go to in the Zurich area.

I've also come across a company called Global Car Trading (www.globalcartrading.ch) who promise 10% discount for a new car with all the official Swiss delivery service goodies (like ASSP for Audi and the warranty / free service for BMW).
Anyone has experience with these guys?

Thanks in advance,

Stefan

you can give Auto Zuri West a try. They seem to be a clearing house for some of the larger outfits & have some low mileage jobs as well, you can get some decent bargains. They have two sites in Zürich.

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

I'm sure I could sort myself 13% off a new Beemer. Mind you, the stigma of driving one would be terrible.

Titan in Altstetten is Ok. Talk to them about fleet discount and mention the company for whom you're working.

and want to buy a new BMW (3 Touring). Any advice on where to get the best deal?
I just took delivery of a 2001 330xi Touring last friday. It was excellent value for money, but more importantly I was totally amazed at the level of service they gave me. As I wasn't buying a brand new car most BMW main dealers didn't want to know, but the saleman from Bavaria Auto in Baar (near Zug) was excellent. I got them to fit a Sat Nav stereo which they did perfectly and they even gave my wife a bouquet of flowers when we picked up the car (which was a really nice touch). Please PM me if you want the name of the sales chap as he speakers really good English and is a great chap. Would highly recommend them and will be purchasing my next car from them.

I have used Bavaria for both my company and wife's private cars. They have always been very professional.

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

It's the extras you'll do better negotiating into the price, rather than squeezing the sticker price down too far. You'll not really be needing that DVD player in the back... but throw that in along with a better satnav (ooh, BMW satnav is sucky) etc. and you're more likely to get a better overall deal. If you're only interested in the lowest price, don't buy a new car

And after all the haggling - when the guy is ready to throttle you - just before you sign the contract, ask them to throw in an umbrella and an M-Sport keyring, just to be cheeky...

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

I've just ordered a 335d touring from Hutter auto in Winterthur. I've been really pleased with the service so far. They seem to take more care with customers than some of the bigger BMW dealerships in Switzerland. There's at least a couple of English speaking sales people there too.

Not sure about discount etc as I bought mine through diplomatic sales. I've also heard rumours that you can get shorter delivery times if you go to a smaller dealer as the larger dealer have often used up more of their order slots.

PM me if you are interested in the name of a contact there.

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

I am not sure about BMW, but for a lot of cars the cheapest place in Europe to buy is Denmark - due to the high car taxes (~180% of what
's above CHF20000). That makes the base price low, which is what interests us here.

I know that there was a traffic of Citroens and Peugeots going from France to Denmark to France - buyers saved towards 10%.

Have fun

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

I'd recommend Titan on Badenerstrasse. I checked a couple of few other BMW dealers; Sohner on Seestrasse and Binelli on Badenerstrasse ; but Titan's price was better and their service is good.

Don't go to Auto Zuri West, such as a lie company, they only cheat and lie to customer. I'll tell you my story with such dealer later

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

Does this traders bring the car from Germany?

I'm looking to buy a car, specifcly a BMW, but looking for the prices now in bmw.ch and bmw.de the difference is huge.

The same car from bmw.de can be 40% cheaper.

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

1/2 OFF not only for BMW but for MB as well. If I'll buy a new or used car in Germany, will the guarantee works in Switzerland as well. I will survive without free service, but guarantee is important to have here, not in DE.

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

BMW Zbinden in Hägendorf.

Just bought a used BMW X5 4.8is, all fine.

They are very friendly and give a good discount.

They found some things on my old car which a BMW dealer in Germany didnt.

Highly recommended.

Re: Best place to buy a new BMW?

Here is a link for (reference) prices in Finland that has high car tax: http://www.bmw.fi/fi/fi/insights/prices/price_list.html

The first price column includes 23% sales tax (sis. alv. 23 %) that would be, in my understanding, deducted if the car was sold tax free out of EU.

For example: 528i TwinPower Turbo Sport A xDrive XL51 50,030e minus the 23% sales tax.

Or: X5 xDrive35i A ZV41 59,420e minus the 23% sales tax.

Then of course there would be the normal import troubles for a car from an EU country.

There just a second hand car dealer, what do you expect?

If your buying a brand new car with a manufactures guarantee there is nothing to loose, you might save 25-40% from a main dealer,
