You mean the walker walked into you and put you in hospital, while he/she remained uninjured? They can be pretty deadly these "careless walkers"...
Yes. In attempting to avoid the collision my front wheel slipped into a drainage ditch and I fell, hit my head on a stone (I was wearing a helmet) and was concussed.

So were not actually "knocked off" your bike by a "careless walker" at as you previously stated.

I still don't see in what way the pedestrian was at fault and had "lack of care and attention". They were presumably walking on a designated walking path at walking speed - uphill? You were travelling so fast that to avoid a collision you had to veer off the path - and this is the pedestrian's fault??

You'd have to draw pictures for that to make sense. The pedestrian always has the right of way.
When I'm walking, and I want to change my direction of travel, I look around over my shoulder to see if anything is coming from behind. The walker who knocked me off did not do that.

I have learnt by this experience to be very wary of passing two or more walkers, walking in the middle of a trail, when they seem to be totally unaware of anything but their own conversation. A sudden side step before a cyclist slowly passing on one side can cause the accident that I experienced.

You seem to be presuming a lot of things about my accident.

And you seem to be drip-feeding what really happened.

Unless you had physical contact with these (or was it this)
"careless" walker they cannot have been "knocked off" your machine by them/him/her. What appears to have happened is that you could not control your bike, presumably due to excessive speed and had to take avoiding action.

As a walker, I certainly do NOT look behind me before changing direction. There are certainly places that I have had to stop using for walks at weekends, as I have to stop every couple of minutes to let a mountain biker pass.

The sooner bikes and walkers are separated the better it will be for both parties...
