Geneva's Roadworks for the 1st semester 2011

a nice picture from the newspaper and a quick translation with Reverso Online

From tomorrow, it is necessary to expect big disturbances on the bridge of Coulouvrenière, in the direction of Plainpalais. The works of the streetcar extend in the sector and pull important changes of traffic until autumn.

Concretely, the street of the Arquebus will be closed in cars on its first section. It means that it will not be possible any more to turn to the right at the foot of the bridge of Coulouvrenière. It is going to provoke an transfer of traffic on the boulevard Georges-Favon, already saturated.

The motorists who take this route to go in the district of banks will change routes. They will have to pursue up to the place of the Cirque, turn to the right on the boulevard Saint Georges, then take the street of Kings and go back up towards banks via the street of Coulouvrenière. A real rally. On the other hand, for the pedestrians and the cyclists, we find no major difficulty. A word to the wise is enough.

That's funny because they put tramways rails they removed 50 years ago - more or less...

Yeah, and I recall a big mess in that area just about 6 months ago, summer 2010, and they were re-doing the tram lines then as well. So I guess they still can't decide where the tram lines will go or the first round was just a shoddy practice session.
