Blue Zone technical question

Apologies if this has been answered before (if so, I couldn't find it).

When parking in a blue zone, or any zone in Zurich, is there a rule as to whether the wheels or the front/back bumper should be within the zone?

As far as I know, the entire car length has to be in the zone. I have seen a jobsworth issuing a ticket to a car where the bumber was hovering over the outside edge of the blue line

Re: Blue Zone technical question

Hi guys

under the federal fine overview (http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/741_031/app1.html) this could fall into two categories of "crime"... see points 252/253 respectively - sorry, the original is in german but I am including a crude translation:
a) parking outside of marked parking places (in original:
Parkieren ausserhalb von Parkfeldern oder einem deutlich gekennzeichneten Belag)
b) parking of a vehicle on a marked parking place which has not been foreseen for the size of the vehicle (in original:
Parkieren eines Fahrzeugs auf einem Parkfeld oder einem deutlich gekennzeichneten Belag, wenn diese Parkierungsfläche grössenmässig nicht für diese Fahrzeugart bestimmt ist (Art. 79 Abs. 1bis und 1ter SSV)

The fine for such parking is listed as follows:
< 2hours: CHF 40
>2 hours < 4hours: CHF 60
> 4 hours: CHF 120

I hope this helps

Re: Blue Zone technical question

White/blue zone in continuous bays, is, afaik, wheels on or inside the lines.

It is how I have parked for almost 7 years without a ticket

Re: Blue Zone technical question

As already pointed, the whole car needs to be inside the Zone...

On a lighter note, This reminds me of a seinfeld Joke "If I want my ass hanging out of the back of my parking spot, that's my business"
