Harley dealer, Zurich or Dietikon ?

I'm thinking about getting a new Sportster just as a runabout and to drive to work. I once bought a bike from the dealership in Zurich (on the Militarstrasse) but the dealership in Dietikon is closer to work (so easier for service etc). I am not really familiar with the dealer in Dietikon and I know that since I went there the dealership in Zurich changed owner (2 times).

So I was wondering whether anyone has experiences (good or bad) with one of these dealers ?

Re: Harley dealer, Zurich or Dietikon ?

I won't try and start a Harley bashing thread - but you have ridden a "Girlster", haven't you ??

Personally I would go for the Triumph Bonnie, if I was looking at a bike of that ilk .... however

The Dietikon dealer actually seems to know what they are talking about re HD/Buell
From past experience the Zurich HD dealer was more a fashion emporium to buy leather jackets to wear to the Kauflauten Lounge. The girls in the shop were great looking ... but would know tranny oil from engine oil TBH

I don't subscribe to the believe that you need to wear pink frilly underwear to ride a sportster

Apart from that !
Admittedly, i have only ridden one once - and it was good to have the 50s experience. And it was in Utah, so pink underwear would have been a serious risk to my safety ...

Just remember to carry a spanner and screwdriver at all times and join TCS - bits will drop off

And those brakes look meaty ... but they would have trouble stopping a bike 1/4 of the weight of the Sporty !!

They do look cool - but so do the Triumphs ( google a Triumph America) - I dunno if they are more expensive here but the build quality in more year 2009 rather than 1959

Re: Harley dealer, Zurich or Dietikon ?

My wife rode a Sportster once but found it a bit lame!! However back to the point. I once stopped at the Dietikon dealer on my way to Lausanne because I thought the rear wheelbearing on my Buell was about to give up!!

They took the Buell into the workshop, popped the wheel out, checked the bearing, and showed it to me so I could see it was ok. All for free!!! So I can only say say good things about them..

Get the Triumph!!!

No way ! Not interested in a Kawasaki immitation ('cause thats where they got the technology from when they started again back in the 90-ies).

Plus I got no problem with screws falling off, never lost anything from my FXS or FXB (except once the FXS ran out of sparks for the spark plugs)

Where I come from the term is Skirt-ster. If I were to buy one, it would be from the 70's, but the new ones really do look better than say the ones in the early 2000's.

Have you seen the this ad?
You may want to consider it

The performance may be a little too much to handle at first ...
