Re: Possible to get a car under ch 1000?

Maybe, best bet is to look on ricardo and make sure it has a recent abgas (exhaust) test and roadworthy inspection. They are required every year for cars over 10years old, so maybe you get a free run without inspection while your here. Look for something japanese with less then 100000kms on it and you cant go wrong. I have a nissan micra '96 low k's it is as good as new, that or a suzuki swift we had them in Australia for company cars, took an absolute belting and never had a problem till 250000kms. The micra is for sale but not in your price range. Happy hunting.

Re: Possible to get a car under ch 1000?

I just bought a Saxo for 500CHF with 200k on the clock, as a first car for ZappaJr. Apparently these are the new 2CV's - run forever, easy to repair & cheap spare parts. OK, I got it from a colleague, so the price was nice, but there is room to get within your price bracket. Recommended.

CHF 1,000 might buy you a lot of problems! It is OK if you understand cars, but it is very cheap!

You can buy here http://auto.ricardo.ch/

or here, http://www.car4you.ch/sea_det.cfm?la...h,1&status=0,1

or maybe as a beginner join mobility, then no hidden costs, http://www.mobility.ch/en/pub/index.cfm

Re: Possible to get a car under ch 1000?

I got a Nissan Micra, with less than 50,000 on the clock for 1000. It was hardly run in, and I've had nil problems with it over the last year. I did add another 20,000 to it mileage.

This will run forever - I got one for my grandmother - it's a joy to drive and park around town and great value.

Re: Possible to get a car under ch 1000?

I drove a Micra for 11 years and the only thing which ever broke down was the handbrake.
Now I have an Audi and I wish it could be half as reliable as the Nissan.

You can't go wrong with that car, just make sure to get the Nissan Micra and not the "Renault" Micra (from 2003) :-).

I can't believe nobody has told the OP yet that they don't need a car and that they should be using public transport. This is the EF transport forum, right?

And shouldn't you be telling them they need to add at least two zeros to the amount

Re: Possible to get a car under ch 1000?

I know it's possible for 2 reasons:
1) Try to part-x any 10+ yr. old car and you'll be offered next-to-nothing; and,
2) See the following link - 998 listings for <1000 chufs.
