Fined for not having a ticket/money, but no letter yet - returning to CH OK?

Hi, i have a question for you all, maybe somebody will know.
I got a ticket for riding the night train without the night ticket, didn't have enough money on me on the train so i gave my personal information.
The next day i went home (i live in croatia) and i never received the ticket. So i'm wondering if i'll have to pay the ticket next time i visit Switzerland. (which will be next week )
Any information will help, thank you.

Re: Fined for not having a ticket/money, but no letter yet - returning to CH from OK?

you think they'll be waiting at the border for you?
unlikely - they probably wrote the ticket off as you only saved 5 francs. Easier and cheaper than senting everything to Croatia for you to pay or not pay.

I would not worry

On the other hand you are hardly helping the image of your fellow countrymen and all foreigners living in Switzerland...

Re: Fined for not having a ticket/money, but no letter yet - returning to CH from OK?

come on lady, he or she states that he missed the 5 franc night surcharge - so he appears to have had a ticket but been riding on the beer train without the extra 5 francs.

he or she also gave name and address and an official ID when asked. So it's now down to the SBB to proceed.

hardly crime of the century

Come on lady. It's the principle not the amount.

There are endless accounts of how foreigners are treated and mistreated here - I'm just saying that the OP is providing grounds for prejudice...

I assume if the OP was English, this would not arise. But if the OP was Scottish, it would be an issue?

Hi, as you did everything you had to (give the right address etc.) there should not be a problem at all. If they request you to pay the bill upon arriving just do it. Nothing to really worry about.

Jail time, minimum 6 months.

They have the right to come looking for you in Croatia, the authorities usually oblige..

I hope you gave an fake address

Assuming the OP gave the real home address and personal details, i.e. in Croatia, then you have no reason to bitch and moan.

Sometimes people really don't have the change on them or access to get more. Sometimes people even make mistakes.

Really? I had always assumed that some were more foreign than others , and I edited that for you...

I don't know how high the bill we be though. Without a valid ticket is without a valid ticket so the fine would depend on whether they apply the old rulings (invalid ticket = no ticket) or the new new (wrong or 'incomplete' ticket = incorrect ticket).

A bit more information here.

Assuming you still have the ticket, why not go to the next SBB ticket office and ask to pay them?

I don't have the ticket anymore, it was almost two years ago...
So, i gave my correct name, address, etc.... does anyone know (for sure) will i have to pay the fine once i come back?
I'm asking this because the fine of 80chf (or more) is not a small amount of money for me

Did they stop the corporal punishment?

Joking!

OP, don't worry, worst case; you'll get the fine, best case; you won't hear about it. Just keep yourself out of trouble and make sure that you have the exact money to pay the ticket for now on!

Don't worry about it, probably dead. If not I will personally drive to the airport/border and pay it for you.

It's not going to happen chill you'll be fine!

I think you should be fine as long as you don't get caught again without a ticket.

Unbeknown to most, our two lands have become tied, and have made a secret alliance, resulting in all records and data being shared (although there is a statute of limitations of only 2 yrs.)
