Parking in Kreis 5? [ZH]

Hi There
I have a question about parking..

Our building apparently have no free parking places available and I am wondering where I can go to find out about either renting a place privately or getting a pass for street parking.

A friend mentioned I may be able to buy a parking pass for the street at my local Kreis buro, Im just wondering if this is right or if there are other options available for street parking and where to find out about this?

Thanks for any advice, our letting agent is so unhelpful!!

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Sometimes on www.homegate.ch people advertise parking spaces to let in your neighborhood e.g. few blocks away. Type your address and see what pops up. That's how I found mine first upon discovering that all undercover parking lots were taken in our block.

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Thanks but I already checked there. Are there any similar websites that advertise parking places?

Did you use property menu and then selected parking/garages and then typed your location?

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Sorry I'm afraid that if you cannot get a blue zone from your local Gemeinde or if they cannot send you to another municipality with similar request, then I guess you need to keep your eyes open until someone vacates the space somewhere!

Another option might be checking the local car garages which sometimes hire the parking spaces. I got mine from Nissan garage down the road in my area for one month at CHF50 which was quite steep but helped me to make other arrangment in the mean time. If you can ask neighbours they might have some ideas as well.

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Thanks.
I have seen a really big car park on heinrichstrasse which has hardly any cars in it except for mobility cars. I would love to have a place in that car park but no idea who to contact. Will go to Kries buro next week I think.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Thanks but no its this car park near to Heinrichstrasse 240 where the mobility symbol is:

http://map.search.ch/zuerich/heinrichstr.240

Not sure who to contact.

Also does anybody know who to contact to get a permit to park on the streets? And if these are easy to get and roughly how much they cost?

Many thanks
F

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Hi

you might find this brochure helpful - it provides all the information about residential car parking in blue zones (CHF 240 p.a.) in English (among other languages).

And here a link to a page where you can request the card online or download a PDF form (sorry, just in German):
http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/pd/de/in...parkkarte.html

Hope this helps :-)

Re: Parking Kries 5?

Also bear in mind the Kreis 5 has a lot of night activity and that, especially if you have a nice car, there is a risk of vandalism. Furthermore, the city issues more parking permits than there actually are parking spaces, so I wouldn't count on getting a space. The agenda of the city is for people not to have cars, so they make it as unpleasant as possible to own one.

A friend of mine rents a lock up in that industrial zone, I'll ask him. I rent a parking space for my van just up the road from there right next to the Viadukt, we pay about 300 a month, but seeing as I don't live here it seemed the cheapest option.
