Police control

Wierd. I put my new highway sticker on so I wouldn't get stopped by the police but today they pulled me over. I asked and the policeman replied that it was a control ... very deadpan. All they did was check my driver's license and car registration. Then they said I could go. It looked like they were pulling everyone over and it was about dinner time -- so probably not looking for drunks.

I guess their coffers are getting low ...

Not weird at all. Random stops are regular affairs. They'll have also checked your tyres and abgass sticker.

Re: Police control

A couple years ago, I was flagged over, and all he checked was my license.

I asked why, he said that there are a lot of people riding motorcycles with no license.

Re: Police control

I was surprised today to see a 2 person mobil unit in my neighborhood. They were standing in someones driveway behind a wall with what looked like big binoculars checking out each car as it approached. Their police car was no where to be seen. I guess it was a mobil radar unit -- but I'm not sure.

They like to use spotting scopes to issue tickets for no seatbelt, talking on mobile, etc. They can see you from a few hundred meters (long before you see them) and then flag you over to give you a ticket.
