| | Bern tram & bus tickets
I will be in Bern on a Fri., Sat. & Sun. in September.
I will be using a Swiss Half Fare Card.
I saw a Bern "1,2 or 3-day Tourist Ticket" somewhere on the Internet.
1) Are they still available?
2) Do they go as far as Fribourg and Murten?
3) Are they 1/2 fare with a Swiss Half-Fare Card?
Thanks.

You can still get them, surely at the tourist office. Fribourg is a different kanton, and I think the tickets only go a certain distance within kanton Bern, but you can check the map at http://www.libero-tarifverbund.ch/ to be sure as they sometimes arrange overlapping tickets.

(I don't know is a perfectly good reply that is seldom used. In fact, it is better than no reply, in my opinion) |

The Halb-Tax card is not valid for city passes as far as I am aware. Heres the link for Bern Mobil (English) who run the city network, which is seperate from the rail network.

Yes, I plan to make that my first stop in Bern. I'm sure they will know, but I like to plan ahead. After travelling for 18 to 20 hours and being in a strange place is not the best atmosphere for asking questions and getting information.

What is a Halb-Tax card?

Now for a hypothetical. What if I buy a 1-day Bern pass, then get on the train to Fribourg. At the point where the Bern pass is no good, how do I use my Swiss Half Fare Card for the rest of the trip?
I suppose they have people who ride the train and check for tickets.
Do they take pity on ignorant foreign travellers?

When you buy your ticket, either at the machine or in the ticket office, you can ask for half fare. The machine will print it, the ticket office will ask for it to be presented (most likely).
& no they take pity on nobody .... feckers ...
Just picked this up on a parralel thread ... Travel Passes for Visitors should be helpful.
