| | Am I allowed to use Mobility for the kontrol fahrt test ?
I'm booked to do my kontrol fahrt in 2 weeks. Can I use a mobility rental car to do this in?

I'd say yes. The real question is whether you need the L on the back |

I think in the contract of Mobility is written that you can use the car for learning if you are added as user or main holder of the contract.

Assuming you are classified as a learner until you have passed the test, a learner driver can drive a Mobility car (under their own Mobility subscription), as long as the accompanying licensed driver is also a Mobility subscriber.
I think that may present an issue there. Link |

Is this your introduction, as per the Forum rules?
No you cannot, as the examiner will not be a Mobility member.

No you cannot, as the examiner will not be a Mobility member. | | | | | The introduction thing is a suggestion, I think, not a rule.
Does the examiner need to drive then? I received a newsletter just a few days ago from Mobility, explaining that you can use their cars to learn to drive, though different insurance rules apply. As it doesn't apply to me, I didn't read it in depth, but I wouldn't see why they'd let you learn but then not take your test.
Edit: reading for the win. The post above Ittigen's explained that, so never mind.

Thanks for all the swift responses! I'm from South Africa, have had my drivers licence for 15 years. I've been living in Zurich for just over a year, and have been driving on the suburban roads and on the highways etc. . But I don't own a car (the vehicle I've been using is my father's 9 seater VW - rather too big to do the test in?), hence looking for a way to do the kontrol fahrt other than via a driving school. They are expensive, and want to take experienced drivers for 5 or 10 lessons, which I feel is merely a way to make quick money rather than a neccessity. Am I wrong?

I also have an SA driver's license and am doing my Kontrolltest fahrt in 2 weeks. I have been for about 5 lessons so far and i feel that I would definitely not pass without these lessons. they know exactly what the examiners are looking for so I would recommend at least going for one double session.. I thought i was a a great driver but its turns out im not so hot.. have at least 4 lessons more before test... |

You don't have to do all this for a kontrolltestfahrt.. | | | | | This the information I have as well. According to the strassenverkehrsamp I needed my valid SA driver's licence, my Swiss Ausweiss, and an eye test done (which I did) - all within the first year of being here. They then booked me for the kontrol fahrt, which is in 2 weeks from now. I guess if a Mobility car won't suffice, I'll have to go for a few lessons with the driving school (although a couple of my SA friends didn't go for lessons - they just did the kontrol fahrt in their own car and it was fine).

Ask at the driving school, I think you are not seeing this the right way. You should cancel your appointment for the test or they will charge you for it!
Do you have the Lernfahrausweis?

I am from Non EU country and I took the kontrolltestfahrt in St.Gallen using Mobility. so to answer your first question, no problem as long as its just a kontrolltestfahrt and not the one with learners licence.
Fortunately I passed the test after 50 mins of driving in the city, country side and twice on the highway with the guy from the strassenverkehrsamt.
But, if you fail the test, someone else should drive back your car to mobility station.

Theoretically Ittigen is right about the full-test. HOWEVER, most STVAs seem to be happy to give you the easy option when changing over.

Yes, it's just for a kontrolfahrt test, not a test with a learner's licence. I have a valid driver's licence for 15 yrs already (a code 8 and a code 10). I'll get in touch with Mobility.
