| | Need a ticket Thalwil-Zurich
Hi,
can someone help me out a send me his ticket for 12.3.11? Unfortunately I had no valid ticket today at 8pm and got fined although I was thinking my ticket was still valid, but I only bought a 2 hour ticket instead of a day ticket. I must have been really absent-minded when I bought the ticket. But if I can show a valid ticket I will probably not be fined.
Best,
Sahasrara

I assume it is a ZVV ticket you need. Unfortunately, purchasing a ticket now will reveal the current date and time stamp ie after you had been fined for not having a valid ticket, and will not help you in your appeal - just my 2 rappen.

Surely the offence is not being able to produce a valid ticket on demand, rather than "It's at home" or "I'll produce it later". How can you get past not being able to produce a ticket ?
Seasonal/weekly/monthly tickets excluded of course...
Tangled webs.

The only way around it is to have a personalised ticket (i.e. Monthly, GA etc) which was purchased on or before today. You were travelling without a valid ticket you're going to have to suck it up and pay the fine.

Unfortunately, you've made a mistake and have been found travelling without a valid ticket. I can't see a way to avoid paying your fine.
Look on the bright side -- at least you are very unlikely to make the same mistake again.

This is what the SBB site says:
Have you bought a ticket?
Dear Passengers, Please buy your ticket before you board the train. If you are travelling without a ticket, you will have to pay a surcharge. The amount payable depends on whether you are travelling on a regional train with self-service ticket validation or on a long-distance service.
Regional services
The self-service ticket validation system is used on R-, SN-, S-, and certain RE-trains.Once you have boarded the train you can no longer purchase or validate your ticket. If you are found travelling without a valid ticket you will have to pay at least CHF 80.–, regardless of whether you did not have time to buy a ticket, cannot find your ticket or have not bought the correct ticket. Furthermore, your personal details will be electronically recorded and kept for at least two years. Travelling in 1st class with a 2nd class ticket is also considered travelling without a valid ticket.

You will have to pay the fine...if you choose your words carefully you can get that reduced to CHF40 ;-) Give them a ring and have a valid excuse!!
This was my experience after finding out that a 24 hour ticket is not valid at night (night network)!!

If it's personalised you'll get it reduced to a small administration cards. There are no personalised single day S-Bahn tickets.
Even if you order it online and it has your name printed on it and is recorded on the SBB system you will still get the 80CHF if you don't have it with you on S-Bahn trains.

Apparently someones brother's girlfriend's aunt's son was allowed to buy a backdated ZVV month pass after getting a fine, and therefore only paid the admin fee for the fine, and then had a month pass. It is apparently a well kept secret. |
