| | Spring is here: speed traps are back!
It's that time of year again. As the weather gets warmer, the cops take to the road with their mobile speed cameras, soaking up some rays and refilling the cantonal coffers. I mentioned this to my wife as we were driving home, and not five minutes later, we passed the first mobile speed trap that I've seen this year (on the A3 just outside Basel).
Just a friendly reminder to watch your speed. | The following 5 users would like to thank Village Idiot for this useful post:

suppose we can help each other by uploading to a gps device when a camera/speed trap is spotted. I'm not an expert on camera reporting devices but they are out there...found this link for Iphone http://www.presselite.com/iphone/radars/index_en.html |

Although I see it is available with iPhone.

I'll take my chances, it is they who are committing the crime of entrapment, however it is us that get punished. But then again, I don't speed for the most part....that should also prevent it!

It is those who only sometimes marginally slip over the max. speed limit, that end up being unlucky.
Set your GPS to give a warning when you exceed the limit. Mine is set at +10kph - still an offence, but not unrealistically saintly, either.
[if it goes off too much, I just turn the music up, to drown it out].

Personally, I find that drivers slow down once the weather turns better.
All those short skirts etc -
Here is a rhyme to remind you.
God is kind and sends the wind to blow girls`skirts up high
But God is just and sends the dust, to blind the bad man`s eye. | This user would like to thank grumpygit for this useful post:

And so many more speeds UM. I always get nailed when it changes from 60 to 50 in the 'burbs. Oh well, fines are part of my driving imperfection.

I had a GPS Snooper and driving from Germany over the border at Thayngen they saw the holding bracket on the windscreen.
I said that I didn't have it with me because I know it's illegal he didn't believe me, thoroughly ransacked my car and threatened a fine of 800 chf if he finds it...

He didn't find it.
It didn't work in CH anyway, so luckily I left it at home.

It's the little or no warning of a drop in speed followed by police jumping from behind a tree/sign that gets me, I usually give them a friendly wave as they point the gun at my car.
Anyone know if it's illegal to warn other motorists with a quick flash who are travelling in the other direction? |

We routinely do it back home but here, it has happened to me only once. So, I'd say flashing like this is probably illegal, or, people just want you to get your lesson.

Then again I know for sure it's illegal in Germany. So I take the "for sure" back and replace it by "most likely".
