Public transport costs Hofe - Zurich

Hi! Would anyone be able to give me a rough idea of how much return train fares cost from Pfaffikon - Zurich? We are hoping to move a little way out of Zurich for tax reasons but we would like to get a rough idea of what our travelling costs might be. Also if anybody knows if there any money saving tips/advice/ websites I can visit that anyone knows which might be helpful it would be much appreciated. Thanks. Clare.

Sticky at the top of this Forum. One of them says Public Transport in Switzerland and reading that will take the rest of the day.

Nearly everyone here has a 1/2 price card which makes the tickets cheaper (although not all of them half-price). Also weekly, monthly, yearly - you name it, we've got it.

See how efficient we are, old Deep Purple beating me to it by one minute!

Re: Public transport costs Hofe - Zurich

The tax savings should more than makes up for transportation costs - either by train or by car. The issue is really more one of time - how much commuting time can you afford?

What kind of commuting do you anticipate doing - daily rush hour into Zürich, off-peak into Zürich, daily running around the area doing errands? There are lots of ways to save, but how you travel makes a difference.

We life in the Höfe area - although we are only a short walk to the train, given the type of traveling we need to do we could not get by on public transportation alone.

My husband drives into Zürich as he likes to be at the office by about 5AM, which is before the first train. Even if he were to wait for the first train, getting in at 6AM, the trip would be an hour and 15 minutes - whereas it is only a 30 minute drive at that time of the morning. Although, I see that from Pfaffikon you have an earlier train than we do...

For running around the area the trains are convenient to Rapperswil and Einsiedeln, but for the day to day errands I find driving makes more sense for me.

I'm terrified of driving in Zürich , so I take the train whenever I have to go to the city - which I do only occasionally. I find that a half price card, coupled with an all-zone 9 Uhr multi-ride day pass is the cheapest option for the kind of travel I do. Obviously that's only the case if you are going in after 9AM.

Welcome to the Heart Of Darkness, by the way.
