Would be grateful for any advice on the following:

1) I'm looking at purchasing a used motorbike directly from current owner. It passed the expertise in Nov. Will it need to passed again before I can license it? I couldn't find any info in the forums.
2) How often does a bike need to go in for the expertise? What is the fee for this?
3) The bike hasn't been started since it passed the expertise in Nov. Any advice? Should I arrange for it to go in again before I purchase it in case there are any issues? Since it passed in Nov the owner may not want to do this, but it seems wise to have a mechanic check it since its been sitting for a while.

Every 2 or 3 years depending on age although I once had a gap of 5 years. You wait until they call .

This is Switzerland - most bikes spend a few months off the road every year .

Have you seen the bike - didn't you start it and see how it runs?

You can't get an MFK until they call you - it's not an on-demand service. Have it inspected by a local bike garage? TCS offer this service.

It is possible to obtain a test early, but I doubt they would after 4 months.

Most of my bikes haven't been started since September or October, won't be until May or June. Nothing to worry about.

Sitting since November is not a while. Sitting for 5 or ten years is a while. It's fine to have a mechanic check it if you don't feel qualified to do it yourself. You certainly should at least start it, but I wouldn't otherwise worry.
