| | I'll pay 50 CHF for a jump start early Monday 4.4 in Hoengg.
Must have left the dome light on... Any heroes out there with jumper cables and a few minutes to spare? PM me please I'm going to bed soon but will be up very early and respond then. BTW, the car is just off Am Wasser.
Otherwise, does anyone know if you can borrow or rent a mobile jumper battery from a gas station, or a have a recommendation for a friendly garage in Hoengg?
Thanks in advance!

Are you in TCS? They will do this for you, for a small charge.

Thanks, but I'm not. What do they charge for a year of basic on-call assistance: towing, jumps, etc?

I personally drink a coffee first thing on the morning.
It does help me to star.

If you don't get someone to jump start you maybe you can try the old fashioned way: turn key in ignition to contact position, put it in 2nd gear, press clutch, push car until you get a bit of speed, release clutch. |

Really ? I did this at least 30-40 times on my old Mazda, which was left all week long in Gib, sometimes for weeks letting the battery go flat, same here in Zurich, I had to push start it every time I wanted to use it (always park on a hill !!)... My car never failed any emissions / catalyser tests...
What makes think bump/push starting will damage the CAT ?

I know this doesnt solve your problem this time, but you can buy now quite cheaply, a portable jump starter that you leave at home plugged in and can carry out to the car, it will give you enough juice to get the car started, it also double us as a air compressor for inflating tyres etc.

I've even managed to jumpstart a car myself before now - in an underground car park. Open door - push car jump in - clutch in - 2nd gear - clutch out - throttle - pray - dip clutch.
Worked on the second attempt!!
The issue with the cat could be the possibility of burned fuel going into the exhaust - settling on the cat lining - and then burning with the hot exhaust gases.

I've jump started several cars, including once leaving the lights on in Grindlewald, luckily there was a huge hill to roll it down, eh voila motoring again after 100m and a full recharge on the journey back to Basel.
I second get the charger/jump start box well worth the investment, although I did keep a spare car battery in the boot for a while. |

FT | | | | | Bump start you mean? You can bump start some automatics too (along with 20 gung ho young cheeps we once bump started a bus in france) I used to do it on my smart car http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php?id=169 |

Thanks in advance! | | | | | In an emergency, you can always call one of the taxi companies. Tell them you need a jump start so that they know to bring cables. I had to do this once. They charge a fixed fee (I think it used to be 20CHF).
It's probably too late to hear this now though...
