Is it possible to get a multi-use point to point card? I travel from schaffhausen to zurich a lot. currently, i have a GA, but thought it might be cheaper to pay per ticket.

but i find the ticket machines inconvenient. if i could buy a 10 use card and validate as i use it, then this would be great.

i know they exist for tageskarte, but i wondered if i can get it for a specific route...

SBB's pricing is a little strange at times. Point to Point passes are at times more expensive per year than a GA would cost ( currently around CHF10 a day )

It is called a Streckenabonnement and you can only buy it from the SBB counter, it's a 7 day pass between 2 defined stations.

It costs about 5 half price return tickets, so if you travel more, then it's worth buying one each week.

to avoid confusion, i want something that i can validate on each use. e.g. say it has 10 credits. on monday, i go S->Z, i validate and use one up.

then on wednesday, i come back, i validate and use another. therefore 8 credits left.

at the moment, i can just buy singles, but it involves queuing for the machine/counter.

Only the Mehrfarhtenkarte (MFK) comes to mind

Exactly, buy a Mehrfahrkarte at SBB counter, maybe buy 3 or 4 as they have a long shelf life.

You could trsy looking in the Public Transport Thread with all its links - then the rest of us could go out and enjoy the sunshine.

To avoid this you can buy tickets on the SBB website and print them at home. This is what I do as the machines can be less than intuitive at times/are sometimes out of order/ sometimes taken up for long periods of time by the confused.
