Re: girl seeking tips on car purchase.

You can pay SFr 11,-- for a online valuation,

You might want to join the TCS and ask them to look at the car before you buy it, TCS is at Cossonay.

Secondhand car technical test, price for TCS members is CHF 120.- which is money well spent!

Re: girl seeking tips on car purchase.

Comparis indciates a value of CHF11,032, but in my experience their valuations are usually higher than even main dealer prices.

Here's one example of an estate from comparis, with slightly higher mileage, but also higher base spec. than the Enjoy for CHF7,800

Re: girl seeking tips on car purchase.

Have TCS or a garage check it out. There will be some things wrong with every used car - you can politely point these out to the seller and use them as bargaining chips. If a private seller, you can probably haggle them down 10-20% or more, depending on how good their asking price is and how long the car has been on the market. I don't know how much dealers here will budge - my guess is not much, since they have to protect their Swiss margins.

Used car pricing is not a science - the price is determined by two individuals' priorities and bargaining skills. Take your time and look at a few cars, even if you greatly prefer a particular one - gives you a sense of the market and your alternatives, and then when it comes to haggling you know where you stand and have more confidence to walk away if your price isn't met, which I believe improves the odds it will be.

If you're not sure, might be worth bringing a friend (or EF member) with you too take a look?
