What is a "Fahrzeugidentifizierungsnummer" ? (Germany)

I go to Munich in the Easter holiday, and found out, my Hotel is in a socalled "Umweltzone", and I need to get a sticker for the car. The form is on https://www.tuev-sued.de/auto_fahrze...en/oesterreich and they want me to fill in the "Fahrzeugidentifizierungsnummer".

Do they want my "Stammnummer" or "Typengenehmigung ?

There is another field for "Kennzeichen" which is License plates, so thats not it.

Hi Doctor,

Is that not the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on your vehicle?

This is usually a stamped metal plate which is riveted/welded inside the engine compartment, although many new cars also have it stamped into the chassis below the drivers seat and supply a flap in your carpet in order to view it.

on my swiss Papers thats the "Fahrgestellnummer". I thought that cant be it, so I left it out immediately.

VIN numbers etc are useless for a sticker - they surely want your car's registration number??

You can get the German sticker at the TCS technical centres in Switzerland.
