I have read all the parking posts and still am confused with the parking rules in lausanne.
there are white parking spaces which allow you to park a certain amount of time and you pay by the hour- understood.
then there are white parking spaces with Zones for those with the letter permit...are only those with the permits allowed in these spaces? i see many cars parked in these places with no permits on show. First come first served basis i assume.
Then there are heaps of these yellow boxes with little clamps that go up and down in the middle...how do I apply for those ones? they seem to be always empty.
anyone know where i can info on this? thanks!

In these "Permit areas" the residents pay about CHF 250 per year to park in the street. Here you must read the notices and pay at the nearby machine, or maybe just display the Swiss blue parking disk. If the parking space has a number, you use this to identify your space at the parking ticket paying machine. You can usually buy a permit for annual parking at the city police station (Not the Cantonal Police).

These are privately owned, you will be towed away if you park there!

On the long yellow boxes with a diagonal cross, you can wait while you load or unload. But these are not parking spaces.

ah the there are so many yellow ones, it's so tempting and they are empty most the time. I just think that even though you pay a yearly fee or once every semester fee for the residents parking permit to park on the boxes with letters, they always seem to be taken and few and far between.
any ideas how to contact these privately owned spots to see if they want to rent it out and im sure some of them aren't even used...

I want to buy a Resident parking permit, I think they are only valid in the blue zones...but how I find the blue zones?. Around my flat in Olten there are many parkings but all are white...Where can I Park?

This does not specify the colour. Actually I just went downstairs and check one from this list and is white...with the box to pay by hours but white. I do not think I am allowd there...
