Best Ticket to buy

Hi, I am a little confused about my options with the Swiss travel system.

I will be in Zurich for 2 months, and will have a small commute each day, and plan to escape to the mountains several weekends.

Could you recommend me a ticket to buy?

Thanks in advance

Hello, aaaajjjj, and welcome to the forum.

Please, make sure you stop by at our intro section to introduce yourself, people will morel likely want to share some valuable info with a newcomer if they know who he is.

We also have a lot of info already available through search function (upper right hand corner), "SBB travel passes" came with a lovely informative thread on short term passes, with a link to long term passes, too.

I've added the link to that super Thread (Thanks MusicChick for finding it again) to the Public Transport in Switerland one.

Re: Best Ticket to buy

Thanks for the replies, I've read the travel passes post, that was a great post.

I think that the half-price card is probably the one to go for?

Does anyone know of any "regional pass" for travel in Zurich?

Lastly, should I buy these passes when I arrive in Zurich airport?

Thanks!

I admire your work in putting those excellent sticky threads together, but do you really believe that the "I want the answer NOW and I don't want to have to look for it!!!!" crowd will read them

Re: Best Ticket to buy

Nah, not a chance. But at least I can, without a trace of a guilty conscience, point newcomers in that direction instead of racking my brains trying to remember where I've seen this or that offer or what that particular traffic company is called. Whether other folk are extra helpful and answer in detail, or perhaps even give incorrect information is no longer my headache.

I can simply go on to other Threads which need attention.

Re: Best Ticket to buy

Thanks people, I think that's the information I was after

I've over 2000 posts on another forum and having created a relatively large sticky thread myself, I understand the annoyance when people ask for information without bothering to read. (To be fair, I did search for such a thread, but just found the general one about swiss travel - the post linked above was very useful)

Thanks for the help
