Wankzug

No doubt the new train from the SBB will be very popular with some EF members!

Re: Wankzug

I think it will only run irregularly - in spurts, and arriving early - and only carry young boys to the appropriate "village" on the outskirts of Bern, where the Stade de Suisse is located.

Re: Wankzug

Google translation is at its best on the above-linked piece - I stopped after the first paragraph since my mind was boggled-

"BERN - Blick.ch-editor Mark Ehinger with test train runs in with Wankkompensation. Here he moves among other passengers, the bags are right. That's it, the Wankkompensation that the train travel more pleasant. (Mark Ehinger / Blick.ch) Promptly at 9.13 clock I leave this morning along with several dozen journalists, the station in Berne to Lausanne. The SBB will present their test train with Wankkompensation.Aber what is called for now Wankkompensation? With the ingenious new bogie, it is possible that the trains can go faster in the curves. The train is coming in the curve, but rather to stand upright. The risk of oncoming trains touch is so excluded."

Re: Wankzug

The interview even contains ...

"Wankkompensation hat weder mit dem englischen Wort «to wank» noch mit dem Wankdorfstadion etwas zu tun."

Wank-compensation has nothing to do with the English word "to wank" nor with the "wank dorf stadium."

Here's your sign ...

Re: Wankzug

From another article comes further illumination on the matter: "Thanks to the innovative Wankkompensation SBB proposes three birds with one stone: more seats, shorter travel times and still less expensive new buildings."

I believe the railways in the UK have been operated on a wankkompensation basis for some years now - for once the Swiss are a step behind... oder?

But then just as we start to understand this comes the following from NZZ http://www.nzz.ch/nachrichten/politi...1.9217890.html
"The SBB and rail manufacturer Bombardier have presented on Tuesday new bogies... Thanks to a new Wankkompensation, the new trains can travel faster through the corners."

I guess they'll be telling us next that "bogies" have nothing to do with nasal cavities or with golf?

Check out Picture 4. The train has been pre-fitted with bags on every seat. Definitely aimed at the Zürich commuter market.

A colleague nearly choked on his gipfeli when I explained what "wank" meant in English. I am proud to work in Wankdorf and have even had the pleasure of watching Young Boys keep clean sheets in Wankdorf

Seems quite popular with the folks in the photos too... there seem to be - how can I put it? - relieved smiles all round.

Re: Wankzug

Great to see the kiddies on EF amusing themselves with word play whilst Kindergarten is out for Easter vacation break.

Kind of allows me to take this opportunity to quote from Blackadder:
"How lucky you English are to find the toilet so amusing. For us, it is a mundane and functional item. For you, it is the basis of an entire culture."

Re: Wankzug

South Bavaria you get the Wank-bahn and the Wank-autobahn, just below the Wank mountain.
Aaaand as Wanker is a good sturdy Bavarian family name you can have a wanker as your neighbor, as we did in Druisheim.

Would you rather be French or German then?

If it was good enough for 20 Minuten to find humour in it, then it's good enough for us.

When my Dad was a student in Nürnberg, he had the pleasure of writing a postcard from Garmisch to his student friends in the UK, stating how he had been "on the Wank all morning".

I nearly always seem to end up with one living next to, or opposite me ..... where ever I've lived.
There must be a lot of them about ..... or is it me?

You've summed it up perfectly. Good enough for you then; agreed. You better get back to the TV screen, looks like someone is about to unveil a white dress costing the equivalent of a small African nation's GDP.....

I had a customer with exactly that name on the Phone once. I immediately informed my supervisor, that I did not in any way have a problem with this customer. Otherwise I might have got in trouble for logging an order for Mr. Wanker.
