Re: VBZ (tram/bus) strike in Zurich tomorrow or soon?

The latest news article on the VBZ website says it hasn't been decided yet, but possibly starts tomorrow. Confirmation will be posted there at 04:30.

Zurich tram drivers on "strike". Sort of.

I should preface this by saying that I've lived all my life in rural/industrial areas. Strikes were strictly an industrial thing. Unions, picket lines, placards, scabs smuggled in the back of trucks, and all that. Whatever else you did, nobody went in or out of that factory that day unless you were a scab.

So I find this whole VBZ "strike" - with 90% of trams still running, apologetic announcements over the loudspeaker, extra orange-clad officials waiting at all the strike-affected tram stops to direct you to the extra buses that have been laid on specially so that the employees can strike without actually, you know, inconveniencing anyone - absolutely hilarious. Doesn't anyone else?

I reckon two thirds of them are still working today, and the other one third are standing around apologetically in orange jackets or driving the extra buses.
