Disposing of Car "Liquids"

Hi all,

I'm planning on installing a "new" radiator in my car one evening this week, not wanting to tip the old coolant into the drains is there any specific places you can get rid of things like coolant or old engine oil here in Switzerland?

Thanks,

Stephen

For the official answer check with your gemeinde. I know oil can be brought to the normal local recycling depot, but unsure about coolant.

You could also ask at your local, friendly garage, as it must be an issue for them. They may be able to take it or advise you where to dispose of it.

What, and leave it in a drum on the doorstep?

I like your style.

And waste a perfectly good drum? No... I'll be delivering it in my collection PET bottles that I keep forgetting to take to the supermarket... two birds with one stone and all that

Re: Disposing of Car "Liquids"

I have always wondered about how to dispose of coolant.

Last time I waited for the once a year visit of the people who collect old medicines & such & gave it to them.

Re: Disposing of Car "Liquids"

I asked about this at the Gemeindehaus today.... apparently all garages have an obligation to take any used coolant and oil from you...

Probably since they got rid of the local depots!

Anyway, I have a good relation with my local garage, in fact they were very happy to see I didn't make a mess!

(OK, he also lets me use his welder, so I guess he doesn't think I'm a total FU!)
