iPod USB/Aux cable for car?

Anyone know where I can pick up a USB/Aux cable for iPhone/iPod for our car? Hyundai sell one, for about 40 chuffs. I'm sure you must be able to get one for a lot cheaper than that.

Edit: car is 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Depends on which head unit (stereo) you have fitted. (Best to name the model and year of the car as well)

I got mine from good old fleaBay. They even supplied an original cable arrangement and fitting instruction for me. Saved a few CHfs in the process. (I should point out that my car stereo has to be removed and the iPod cable wired into the cabling at the back of the head unit)

Re: iPod USB/Aux cable for car?

You mean a standard 3.5mm - 3.5mm cable like this that goes from your iPod headphone socket to the car's aux socket?

You should be able to get one cheapish from most electrical shops.

Re: iPod USB/Aux cable for car?

Do you have an ebay account? Just search on any ebay site (UK, US, Germany, etc.) for 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo jack cable where the seller will post abroad. I'd say it wouldn't cost more than $4.

We have one of those, but Hyundai also provide a dual USB/Aux cable, whereby you can control the iPod with the steering wheel controls.

Re: iPod USB/Aux cable for car?

Sorry don't understand the question. Isn't it just a case of plugging in the standard charger cable which is a USB-ipod/phone cable anyway?

(I'm guessing it isn't as otherwise you wouldn't be here asking...)

No. Using just the standard iPod charger cable doesn't work. The Aux cable works, but I cannot control the iPod from the radio/steering wheel controls. What I'm looking for has a an iPod connector at one end, which splits into a USB and Aux connector at the other. I found one on Amazon UK, but they don't deliver to CH, so I want to know where I can get one without the rigmoral of getting it sent to a UK address and having it forwarded here.

Re: iPod USB/Aux cable for car?

This seems to be what PaddyG is looking for

The block above plugs into the centre armrest, the iPod connector is on the other end of the cable. CHF 40 seems to be very reasonable for an original Hyundai spare.

Re: iPod USB/Aux cable for car?

try amazon.de ?... or amazon.com

I've found for kindle items that while amazon.co.uk will not ship here the others will.

Have you tried looking for the part (i.e. name/model number etc.) on http://www.toppreise.ch/index.php?

It has worked for me on a couple of occasions when looking for electrical items that I couldn't find in CH.

But need to set up ebay and Paypal accounts. Might just be less hassle to get the bloody thing from Hyundai.

you need to setup an ebay account, but you don't need a paypal account to pay, you can do a one off payment via paypal on your card.

may also be worth checking online if you do need a special cable as it may just be a standard cable re-badged as hyundai, or whoever makes the headunit may sell the cable directly cheaper, as was the case for our suzuki, we got the cable direct from Clarion for a fraction of the price the suzuki dealers wanted for it here
