Great findings and much appreciated inputs on fuel prices in various cantons as well. There are iPhone apps that help to find the tanking stations but I thought it might be cool to create a thread on the EF to share the posters experience. Similarly to e.g. weather channel thread it will be regularly updated. And the winner of the day is... Station "x" in canton "y" with prices "z"
Cheapest so far around Baden i found to be the two stations in Dattwil near McDonald's (Esso). The posted price is not bad and there is always a "3 rp. billiger" sale in effect. The Voegtlin-Meyer stations sometimes match these prices, but usually not. Plus, for some strange reason there are sometimes big differences betweem VM stations (although the cheapest one seems to always be the one in Windisch by Felix Emenegger BMW). And yes, I've also had the 150chf trick pulled by VM

How is he supposed to ask a machine for a receipt
After tanking and putting the nozzle back in the pump, you should reinsert the card you used, no PIN number required! There is a pause, the card is returned and there is a message "Printing receipt" and the receipt arrives, usually together with a sharp gust of wind!

Yeah, I had this experience a few months ago too. Was getting a bit hot under the collar about how Shell had ripped me off, but then the amount got adjusted within 24 hours or so.

Odd that they can block the 150- within seconds, but it takes 24-48 hours to correct.

Not really.

The 150 is a "gated" known amount. Once a transaction is registered by the Bank providing the card it will automatically charge that amount (so Aviva gas station -> VISA). Only however once the transaction has completed the entire cycle from Diesel station to Merchant Bank to Provider Bank (so it could be Aviva-> Visa->HSBC->Visa->Aviva ) will the correct amount be processed.

This is not a unique practice to petrol stations or Switzerland.

The button often doesn't work, unless you press it before you start filling!
