Agree that US Airways is awful. I've enjoyed Delta/CO in the past. Never been on Swiss but would like to try.

I like Lufthansa flights to the US, but really any airlines in star aliance seem ok to me! I got a flight to Basel-Boston return for under 500chf so check for deals if you don't have specific dates in mind.

YES. Even if you don't need the space (as I am short as it is), it is definitely nice to have the space. Plus, if you have a tight connection, you are closer to the front of the plane.

It provides you with almost all the cheapest options you may have for any destination.

flying to JFK/EWR from Zurich, go with the foreign (non-US) carrier. All US carriers give sub-standard service.

If you have to go with a US carrier, I would go in this order of preference:

1. Continental
2. United
3. toss-up between Delta and American
4. US Scareways

This is also useful. It shows you how crappy your seat is going to be.

Definitely, especially if you're taller than 5'10".

haven't tried economy plus, but their Business was horrible and their check-in people are something else entirely. not in a good way. Whenever possible, I go for Swiss/Lufthansa.
