When they noticed there were no weapons of mass destruction hidden inside my 10 cm wide cookies, they allowed me inside the country.
Best part was they actually didn't bother me because of the 15kg comics I brought into the country xD

One candle may be OK - but 4 candles, would be considered as dangerous.

My husband tried to bring a box of 12 Christmas crackers over to CH from the U.K for his godchildren a couple of years ago.He had put them in his hand luggage, as did not want them to get squashed. He had them taken off him as was told they were explosives. Now that would make some Headlines...Plane blown up by 12 Christmas Crackers!! | This user would like to thank merseygirl for this useful post:

Christmas crackers are also available to order (from about Nov. onwards - maybe earlier) from Britshop from here in CH.
Good quality, at a bit more expense, but good contents.
[the bang bit inside, is a banned pyrotechnic substance (gunpowder?), which is picked up by the detection machines at airports - which is normally used for checked luggage too - possibly the small amounts weren't picked up in Grynch's or it slipped through the net ]

As above I checked with the check in agent and he said as long as they are in checked luggage it^'s allowed ( caveat.. we have known desk agents to fug up before so who really knows )

| | Re: candle. hand luggage. possible? | Quote: | | | | | Cigarette lighters and matches are listed on the no-no list. I can see the candle being a problem if it is big enough to conceal something - can it be xrayed? Or if it is deemed solid enough to hit onto someones head. | | | | | Cigarette lighters were taken off the no-no list 2007, presumably after someone told the security guys that Richard Reid had used matches on his shoe bomb; see here. And that's not only a US thing; TSA just joined foreign practice, as you can read here, where you can also see that breast milk isn't a dangerous liquid....
However, interestingly enough, one book of safety matches has always been allowed in carry-on, despite Reid. A few years ago even two books were OK. I can't see any real logic in the whole matter, just like the candle story. Most of it is just activism to satisfy political demands after something happened.
Besides that, yes, of course a candle can be x-rayed.

Can I take Christmas crackers in my hand baggage?
Christmas crackers sometimes contain restricted items such as scissors or other sharp items, so to avoid security issues, please place them in your checked baggage only. Please note:
* Crackers are not permitted on any flights out of London City airport
* Maximum two boxes per passenger
* The crackers must be commercially manufactured
* The crackers must be in the manufacturer's original packaging
* The crackers are for personal use only
* Homemade crackers are not permitted http://www.britishairways.com/travel...=searchResults |

If you fly business class you are obviously not the kind of person who would be a security risk, as you are given metal knives to eat with.
However, as one of the hoi polloi in cattle class, you must be a security risk, as you only get plastic knives.
So if you travelling in business the candle should be OK. | The following 2 users would like to thank Marsalforn for this useful post:
