I don`t see why not - it`s not a fluid, and it`s not metal, or sharp or dangerous (unless lit).

I can't imagine that's it's forbidden but in these days and times why push it..? To avoid any possible confrontation when trying to board just pack them in your check-in luggage.

I would have thought it would be ok, in my experience they stick to the rule carefully, and as it's not explicitly disallowed, it should be fine. As an example, I took a long umbrella on a flight the other week, with a nice strong, pointy, metal end, and not an eye was batted. My tweezers were not so fortunate to make it through however!

You cannot take a candle in your hand luggage. I had mine taken off me. I asked why and was told it was a fire hazard.... |

I took two candles and cookie cutters with me on a flight to the States and had no problem whatsoever. Guess it just depends on the airport and personnel.
(I had to repack things at the last minute because of weight issues)

Well, I suppose if someone is bringing a candle on board there is a good chance they may plan to light it, and this WOULD be a fire hazard. They have to catch those paganists before they bring down the plane with their candle-infused nature rituals.

Yes, you are allowed to transport candles in hand luggage.
I wanted to carry some decoration candles on hand luggage due to its fragility, asked on the airport in Zürich, and they presented no problem.
If you are flying to USA, I wouldn't take it, though... (they x-rayed my poor 3 chocolate chip cookies, so I'm not sure how they would react to a candle)

| | Re: candle. hand luggage. possible? | Quote: | | | | | or a cigarette lighter | | | | | Cigarette lighters and matches are listed on the no-no list. I can see the candle being a problem if it is big enough to conceal something - can it be xrayed? Or if it is deemed solid enough to hit onto someones head.
Helm, did you get to keep the 3 chocolate chip cookies?
I was able to carryon a split kayak paddle ( two bits with paddle blades to thwack at people, plus a metal rod to hypothetically finish them off with) from Florida to the UK, because paddles were not listed in the banned category. However, I have not had that good luck between UK and Switzerland - am wondering how to attach guitar strings to the paddle to turn it into a musical instruent, to be allowed to take it onboard. |
