Other than speed, you also have to watch out for traffic lights. My husband received a 250CHF fine for passing the traffic light 0.01s after it turned red.
so after it had been yellow(orange) for a few seconds. Lights is a whole other thing imo and should not be played with. you always know if you can make it and if not, then dont. I rather have someone go 180 on the highway than run a light

Plenty of lights are green for less than 15 seconds, some less than 10 seconds & not even 1 car gets through if the driver of the front car is a bit old!

very true, but on the other hand with those lights usually the red and green are less than a second from eachother( on the other side of the intersection) and I do not know how many people these days stomp it as soon as they know it is going to be green.....thats how accidents follow.
Nope. Dallas is just a bit too far for me to drive.
I'm too busy clogging up the roads here anyway.
as you said there is old people everywhere and they all drive the same (general speaking), just today I was going 130 on the highway and here is granny putting along at 70 being overtaken by trucks. nearly drove over her going so slow

The problem isn't that I need to be stopped from going through red lights, I just need to NOT be stopped from going through green lights.
Be thankful that the lights go to Red/Amber before they go to green. Here in the States, the light just goes green and if the person at the front of the cue isn't paying attention they may hold up long enough that no one gets through.

Well now, since you've admitted doing 130!
Just where's the rozzers when they're needed?

Or, at least in the St. Louis heat these days, they might just be passed out or too dazed to note the light change if their A/C is on the fritz. Crank up that cool air today.

Yeah well, you'll be old one day.....it is to be hoped because the alternative is worse

You know, I really liked the temperature in the summer in Switzerland.
Here it is like being in a wet sauna when you step out of doors.
You are right about the heat and it's ability reducing function. The problem is that when it is hot people can't drive. When it is too cold people can't drive. When there is snow... When there is rain... Well, you get the picture.

That's what I tell people who complain that are getting old.
Of course, in most cases, over here the problem doesn't seem to be age related. Most oldsters want to get on their way so they tend to be watching the lights.
The problem seems to mostly stem from people who are more concerned with smoking their cigarette, drinking that "Big Gulp", putting on makeup in the mirror, talking or texting on their phones or just heavily into it with their passengers, anything else other than the actual business at hand, which is to actually drive the car.
