maybe my swiss job opportunities is coming so i'm planning also where to live and, in case, to commute.
I'd like to know how are authobhan in Swizerland in winter, particulary the one from st.gallen to Chur. Do they keep cleaned by snow or i will find a lot of snow and ice and then i'll need to mount/unmount "chains" on my car wheels ?

You won't need chains for the autobahn here, just winter tyres. From St Gallen to Sargans is a very busy stretch of road and is quite sheltered, the bit from Sargans to Chur is a bit quieter and you may meet slower traffic early in the morning or during a storm. Just allow for a little extra time early morning during very bad snow.

I live in the area and in 4 winters I have yet to need my chains, and that includes driving to my home up the mountain at night, way after the snow ploughs have given up for the day.

In 7 years Grumpy I have used chains twice - first time was to trial fit them when we were in Vals. Second time was the following year when the police inisisted that any non-4*4 used them to drive to Flims.
