Anyone who really wants to celebrate goes here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=r%C3%B...14.169922&z=15

And you can only get there by boat and on foot.

Nope, not busy and added bonus - since it is a holiday, no one will be working on the roads.

Was sightseeing in Bern yesterday ... old city and bears in their new home, and the city was deserted except for tourists.

Re: road to Bern busy?

Delightfully almost devoid of people. Avoided the Bundeshaus because I thought there might be more people there, and I refuse to accept politically tainted chocolate anyway.

My BH wanted to see the children's lantern parade, but no children to be seen on the Monsterplatz, none on the streets. I told her they must have fed them all to the bears, so we stopped for a bite at Fugi. Then over a sip of Sake, much to my surprise, a rather small parade with brass band made its way up from Baerengraben. Lots of parents, but not many kids with lanterns. Where are all the kids?, she asked. Told you, bears ate them.

Fireworks weren't bad at all.
