My husband and I are thinking about spending one day in Bern to visit the city and are considering the possibility to drive our car up there. However, I've been searching on the net (http://www.parking-bern.ch/) about parking and seems to be pretty expensive (cheapest option is 15 CHF for a day). We visited Luzern earlier this week and found an affordable parking for 5 CHF/day (actually it was free if having a blue disc and staying a maximun of 5 hours; otherwise you had to pay 5 CHF for 24 hours). Does anyone know of anything similar in Bern?

They have blue disc parking in Bern too - but not very close to the city centre

Out of interest - which in which capital cities in the world can you park all day for less than $15? It seems pretty reasonable to me (I park in centre of Bern sometimes and it costs CHF40 or so)

You can park in any blue zone parking in Bern for 1 hour free of charge, use the normal blue disk.

You can also buy parking for 4 hours (Costs Fr 8,--) or 24 hours (Costs Fr 15,--) at any (red coloured) Bern Mobil bus & tram ticket machine.
Display the purchased parking ticket carefully behind the windscreen. The parking period starts when the ticket is printed out.
If you buy the 24 hour ticket, you could drive to other parts of Bern and use the same ticket.
