does anyone know if it's possible to drive from leukerbad to luzern the easy way over the mountains instead of going the long way round??

But not that much extra. I thought it was a real bargin at about CHF 25.

Best case will get you from Leukerbad to Luzern in about 3 hours, no matter which way you choose, including the use of the car-trains.

The drive you suggested (19 and A2) up through the Goms valley, over the pass to Andermatt and then on to Luzern is definitely possible and recommended. You won't save much time on this route however the scenery will be the best. In the winter there is also a car-train on this route to get you through the mountain.

Check out that the pass is open though if you plan to go over the top. After the break in the weather the Nufenen was snow-covered and the Furka closed! Probably not for very long but all the same...

Many thanks for all the replies. I did it yesterday late afternoon and it was fantastic. The old bus chugged all the way up and the views were amazing and the Glacier immense
