Hello EFers, in wondered what the best airport is for getting to neuchatel, last weekend I flew into Basel and then drove down with friends but that took over an hour and a half.

Has anyone got a better idea?

Depends where in the UK you're coming from.

My parents always do Luton to Geneva + train; normally they are on the train within an hour of the plane landing and in Neuch 75 minutes later. They have even made it from plane to train in half an hour on occasions.

SkyWork from London City go to Bern-Belp, which is the closest. However, there are direct trains to Neuch from Geneva airport. From Bern I think you have to take a bus to station, then train to Neuch. Looking forward to know how you get on- please feed back if you choose this option.

We always do Luton to Geneva too Stephen. Easy Peasy.

Booked flights from London city to Geneva in the end and will catch the train from there. The flights to Bern were so expensive on Skyworks but i'll bear them in mind for my xmas trip.

Whichever airport you fly into will be at least an hour and a half away from Neuchatel I'm afraid.

We usually fly from Geneva and get the train (direct) but we have done Basel too but then we took the car as you would have to do train to Basel then bus to airport otherwise.

For long haul flights OH usually goes from Zurich.

I do this most months but get off the train at Yverdon (stop before Neuchatel).
As has been said, City to Geneva then the train (but fares on Swiss have really gone up)
I have gone Luton - Geneva but the timings are not good for me (early morning and early evening)
Gatwick - Geneva - not too bad if you can get a good deal.

The only really annoying thing is that every flight seems to come in just about the time where you just miss the train and then you have an hour to wait...
