| | Used BMW with high mileage
I found a used car, 2009 BMW 520i with 84000km (manual).
It sounds like a lot of mileage for a 2 year old car.
The car was company owned.
But, I've heard BMW engine and transmission are reliable.
Also, the car still have BMW warranty until mid-2012.
Should I worry?
Any tips what to watch out?
Thanks!

Bound to be motorway mileage. I would not worry. Grab yourself a bargain.

You'll easily get 250,000kms from a BMW with regular good servicing
the 520 only has the 2L engine, but it is a good engine

My 1995 BMW 328 has 292000, I do nearly 1000km a week. I expect no major repairs in the next 100K. I always use synthetic oil every 12K, change front brake pads, Brake Fluid, Anti freeze ,Air Filter, Plugs every 48K. Other than that I just add petrol.
They DO NOT have a cambelt to change, it's a chain so good cheap motoring for a very long time

I thought the price is quite good. Probably similar to importing one from Germany.

In CH with 100K on the clock, the car will not sell easily, the Swiss like new with a guarantee, there will not be many people after this car bid less, you can always increase your offer later.

There aren't many cars to compare from Autoscout24.ch.
I looked at mobile.de and autoscout24.de, but still find it hard to find a fair comparison (they have older with the same mileage, selling for slightly cheaper).
So, it is not easy to compare.
Oh, it also comes with winter tyre on BMW rims.

the only thing I would worry about is that the 520i is not exactly the most preferred model, making it harder to sell. I would prefer either a 520d or a 523i.

Ships 'n boats are all she's. Can't think of any mode of transportation I wouldn't call a she.
Guess it's because anything carrying persons or things would be a vessel, therefore a she. Don't know what you would call a bike, Pete?
I call my car "baby", which is, mm, a misnomer.

Works out to around 17k per annum, that's modest.

Even if I have no work I still have to be seen networking in Geneva, otherwise they don't call as I live in Zurich. They think it's a long way to go for a day or two's work.

84K in a 2 years old car is perfect. It means the car had run mainly in motorway, so the engine, transmission, brakes are in much better conditions than a car that run mainly in the the city where the brakes and gearbox are much more used.
84k in a car is nothing. Like someone said "Grab yourself a bargain". Some good references about the dealer you choose is always important.
