travel options for friends visiting

I have 5 friends travelling from overseas and arriving this Friday and I guess it is quite expensive for them in Switzerland. I was wondering what travel options are available.

I think they will be mostly in Zurich and maybe will go to Rapperswil on Saturday.

Any ideas for train saving options? Would the 9 hour ZVV pass or the Zuricard make sense?

Hi Phil

It depends a bit on the ammount of travel you are planning todo. In my experience the best option for 3 visitors or above is Mobility http://www.mobility.ch/en/pub/index.cfm. Obviously for a one time solution this is not the best option but I have saved a lot of money and helped save a lot of money from familiy of friends with this option.

Simply speaking traveling in trains and public transportation withour halbtax is very expensive.

Otherwise a very cheap and fantastic day trip is to take the train to Eutliberg and follow the ridge to seilbahn Felsenegg and back with train from there back to Zurich.

Have fun

yeah. i think the best option will be just a zone 10 day pass, but it doesn't go as far as rapperswil - so depends if they want to pay 24chfs for a 9 hour pass on saturday.
