Unknown car parked in our drive

Came home to find an unknown car parked in our drive taking up both spaces. Does anyone know what course(s) of action I can take ?

Re: Unknown car parked in our drive

Set fire to it?

Key the paintwork?

Sell it?

Leave a note under the windscreen wiper?

Block it in, make a cup of tea, sit down and enjoy the show.

Re: Unknown car parked in our drive

I once called up the police in a similar situation. Since the parking place is actually private property (as opposed to public parking spaces), the police cant do too much about it. The guy on the phone was helpful though, and tried to trace the owner of the car in the databank, and also gave me his phone number to call!

there is an ap. on Iphone for doing just that... depends on the canton tho.
It works automatically in some.. in others you have to send an email and wait a couple of days.

Re: Unknown car parked in our drive

Blocked him in and conveniently forgot any language other than English when he came back and I then went back into the house for 20 mins. Eventually let him go. Wouldn't have minded if he had bothered to park correctly in one of the places.

Did you know that by doing that you could be charged with harassment?

Re: Unknown car parked in our drive

Well, if asked by the police about the 20 minute delay, pick one:

1. Desperate for the toilet, sorry, it happens.
2. Posted on EF about it, laughed, did a little "blocked in the f/cker" jig.

Re: Unknown car parked in our drive

Actually, you are not allowed to hinder/block anybody, even if they are in your spot as you would then be committing an offence.

Best is to look up the plates online and then contact the owner.

This rant qualifies you to move up to module #2 of "How to become a Swiss Citizen". Module 1 concerned getting uptight and hysterical about trivial daily incidents and asking for community love and attention.

Good luck as you proceed through all 10 work modules....

Re: Unknown car parked in our drive

Write a polite note on their windscreen in bright red lipstick, apologising for not having a pen and paper to hand, and pointing out that they are illegally (and inconsiderately) parked.

Done that with permament marker (which washes off with alcohol, and you can see through).

You`re stuck at module 3 me thinks: sarcastic display of a holier-than-thou attitude towards newbies.
