Plot your journey here:

Have a look at www.sbb.ch, and also at at topographical map of Switzerland.

(the answers BTW are (1) No, and (2) a long time, i.e. 2.5 hrs at least from Altdorf)

All timetables and times on

www.sbb.ch

click on English.

From the top of my head I'd say it would be far too long and complicated to commute, sorry.

Edit - posts crossed TT

Re: Train journey Uri to Neuchatel

You can live in the Fribourg side of the lake and commute by boat!

But honestly - taxes are a bit higher in Neuch, but rents and everything else are much cheaper + France is not far for regular shopping trips. If you live in low tax areas, you pay so much more for everything else. So unless you are going to earn a HUGE SALARY- live in the Neuchatel area and enjoy.

Re: Train journey Uri to Neuchatel

Many thanks Odile. very helpful. Im still considering the job offer/salary but was aware that there were issues around tax variations vs. other costs of living....would like to be as close to neuchatel as possible.
