| | Car Export to India
Tried Searching but din find anything , so thought will start a new thread. May sound Insane but have this Question in my mind - Can a used car from Swiss be exported to India? - I usually keep hearing that importing a car to india is very very expensive but never heard exactly about any numbers or a formula to calculate for eg. Vehicle cost + 30 % or something like that Just trying to figure out if this is possible at all ? & if possible is it worth ? -- also just as a info - a very decent new Car (SUV) in india would cost around 18000 CHF.
Cheers.

You might get one of these here for CHF 18,000, but I guess that was not the type of SUV you had in mind?

(a) Individuals coming to India for permanent settlement after two year’s continuous stay abroad;
Good to know ... but also bad to see this ....
Total effective duty works out to 101.91%, which includes the following.

Now there is an idea... If we can stick an Audi emblem on, I am sure we can flog it to the Swiss as the new Q1

Last I heard, unless you are a hotel or some special interest, forget it. But in in any case, if it were easy, profitable and would not require three years of red tape, you would be standing in line along with a few million others.

How about importing a car from UK or Ireland instead ? -Then the Steering Wheel is in the right Side, and cars are ridicoulosly cheap there. I bought a 7 year old Crysler Neon with fresh MOT/MFK for GBP 350 some years ago. Have a look on www.autotrader.co.uk for prices

But used Cars like AUDI are extremely difficult to find & also they would ask for a price of a new one ! http://www.carwale.com/used/search.a...city=1&dist=50 http://www.autoscout24.ch/Search/Lis...00&sort=km_asc |

If the first option is the case, you should look in UK, but if the customs estimate a value and you get taxed on an estimate, you're out of luck. But see it positive. You dont import it to Dennmark and pay 180% of an estimated value.
In any case, I still think it would be better to source the cars in UK/IE, as prices are lower than here, and it would probably be easier to have it shipped from a UK Harbor, than from Switzerland.
Have a look at the prices for Audis in Ireland: http://dublin.gumtree.ie/f-Cars-and-...diQQCatIdZ8072

Doc. | | | | | I too have the same Q in my mind.. Need to chk on this ... But i still don't think i can import a car from anyother place other than Swiss - as the first eligibility rule goes as below (a) Individuals coming to India for permanent settlement after two year’s continuous stay abroad;
So i had stayed continuously in Swiss - but would they agree to import a car from a diff country ? i don't think so ! Also i don't think it would be a good option to buy one from UK as i can't see it myself as i can do if i buy one from Swiss which i prefer ... But Still theres a lot of time to investigate & find the real good side if any. Thanks.
Cheers,
vvv.
