5 hours, nah, it was 42 minutes from leaving the shops to my door and I live just behind Lenzburg, there may be two Laufenburgs.....

Re: Nearest German town to Lenzburg for shopping

How much petrol do you estimate a 42 min run and return will cost you (never mind tyre use and depreciation) - as a % of 300CHF?

Will check with my customs officer neighbour, but are you sure kids count as part of the 500g meat, etc?

Re: Nearest German town to Lenzburg for shopping

Petrol about 10-12 franks
Depreciation unknown
Kids are included, even babies.
So with wifey and squids you have up to 1200 chuffs allowance.
As far as the time factor goes, it is neglible in my case as I usually find myself going to about 4 different shops in Switzerland as not one sells me everything I want.
Plus you can sit and have a coffee on the river, very pleasant.
The point is not everything is cheaper in Germany, but it is the sheer variety of goods that are simply not available over here.
Ever walked down the cereal isle at Co-op,Migro and said to yourself, gee that all looks the same?
Ever looked at the price of beef and felt a shiver up your spine ?
In Germany you are spoiled for choice.
