Best transportation deal?

Hello! Arrived back in Zurich and all good and happy so far

I stay right in the heart of town, so basically I can walk almost anywhere central, but still feel the need of hopping on the tram every now and then and don't always have the time to buy the ticket each time! What is the best deal for me under the below conditions?
- here till mid Dec
- tram usage mostly central, kreis 1, 2 and 8.
- S16 (to Feldmeilen) and S18 (to Zumikon)
- any difference if I take trams/trains before or after 9am?

What's the deal with Halbe Karte?

Thanks!

Re: Best transportation deal?

Hm - well, I'll tell you what I have, and maybe it'll help you.

I have the Halbtax card - this is mostly useful when I go out of Zurich on trainrides or need to do zone extensions on my pass. (I also live pretty close to central Zurich.)

For my everyday travel, I have a monthly 9'oclock pass - it's 79 chf for a month of travel within Zurich and the zones surrounding it (which includes zone 21, which includes the airport and the Dietlikon Ikea). I ride the tram at least twice every day... I worked it out that to make the monthly pass worth it, I needed to ride transport within Zurich at least 28 times in a month, which I easily do (plus all my trips to the Ikea!). If I need to go further than the zones the pass covers, I get a zone extension. I'm considering a yearly 9o'clock pass, but it's a lot of money to fork over. (For reference, 79 chf also is the price of a monthly zone 10 pass, all hours - so just in Zone 10, but not just after 9am)

My husband, also has a halbtax card, but he walks to work. He has a multi-journey ticket for times when he wants to jump on a bus/train/tram real quick. http://www.zvv.ch/en/tickets/tickets...ay-passes.html - 16 CHF for a 6 journey pass (with the halbtax); you just endorse it real quick at the ticket machine before jumping on your transport.

I did a lot of calculations to figure out what would work best for us

Re: Best transportation deal?

Thanks a lot for your info! I bought the 9am pass today as am most likely not taking the tram before that time anyway, and with CHF79, I can get my money's worth if I take the tram at least once a day which I will!

Thanks!
