TomTom touchscreen cracked - repairable?

Question from a Luddite with absolutely no knowledge beyond how to plug my GPS in and turn it on...

My TomTom has a cracked touchscreen; the device powers on, but is not usable - I assume because of the screen.

Can a screen be replaced, or is the whole thing toast?

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but before I head to the store and deal with scornful customer service critters, I thought I'd ask here.

Many thanks.

Re: TomTom touchscreen cracked - repairable?

Unless it's under warranty, repair costs will exceed the value of a new one.

How did it crack? Perhaps your household insurance (assuming you have one) will cover it?

Tom

Absolutely no idea.

I assume the poltergeist that lives in my handbag had something to do with it... which also likely means that household insurance won't cover it.

And Murphy's law... warranty ran out three weeks ago.

(Toodles off to read product reviews, in search of a new GPS... making a note to get a screen protector next time.)

Thanks, Tom and Clarence.
