I think Saint Gallen is known as Saint Gall in English, but maybe I am wrong.

Re: St Gall train station to hospital

Funny thing is I travelled to St Gallen last week for a job interview - took the No.1 bus and figured you had to buy a ticket from the machine at the stop.

When I got off the other end, realised there is no machine at the bus stop - so wondered if I was supposed to buy a strip ticket or so when I bought the first one. It took a good half hour of Googling with my netbook and checking the St Gallen public transport site to figure out there are ticket machines on the buses.

I did actually consider asking on the EF - but reading this thread and the usefulness of 75% of the answers I am glad I didn't! I'd still be there!

I'm off for a little English Talk.

Cheers,
Nick

Re: St Gall train station to hospital

I'm sure I've read other posts where people have asked directions to places, why are you all being so mean? I thought one of the great things about EF is that we can ask for help and advice from those more knowledgeable than us.

Because - er - when you - er - google - er - the words - er - St Gallen and - er - hospital - er - you get - er - results - er - with the addresses.

The OP doesn't seem to know which hospital. Google doesn't know that either. Otherwise this thread could have been closed a long time ago. On the other hand, there are NOT nine hospitals in St. Gallen. Several of the addresses on that map posted by Ittigen refer to practice addresses of Doctors associated with a clinic that is not even in the Canton St. Gallen. Several other ones refer to the Children's Hospital and other totally unhelpful places. The only ones that matter were mentioned and dealt with by Captain Greybeard.

Hey folks, someone in serious troubles asked for help. Granted, the question lacked sophistication, which, however, can be attributed to stress. The lack of info in the initial question cannot be used as an excuse for quite a few of us who just made plain fun of him or of others that tried to help, while some other EFer kindly provided totally useless information (nine hospitals, my @ss!) and advice, and in the end one of the few who really helped was made fun of too.

Looks like we scared Today only off.

Re: St Gall train station to hospital

Of course it might have been quicker to just ask a passer by what to do - but this is the age of web 2.0!

Cheers,
Nick

If you pm me what time and when your train arrives I can meet you at the train station and drive you to the hospital.
