Where to find jubilee clips?

I was prepared to take off the throttle body from my golf, to clean, toolkit, carburettor cleaner, replacement gasket and everything prepared, was sure that since the car has 200k km on the clock it must have been cleaned at least once (and thus the original single-use clips replaced) when disaster struck! The original clips were still there

So, I'm now wondering where in CH (or DE) I can find jubilee clips. Particularly I'm looking for 1cm diameter ones, or adjustable would be even better. It would also be great if anyone knows a place to get good quality ones (e.g. Norma) and in different sizes.

Back home I have about 20 spare ones (Norma, in all sizes), but my next opportunity to get them is in December .

Thanks for any hints!

Re: Where to find jubilee clips?

I've just come back from Jumbo actually. Either they don't have them in the auto section or I missed them. Are you sure they're supposed to be there?

Re: Where to find jubilee clips?

Most D.I.Y. type places do them, OBI, BauHaus, Co-op House and Garden(Hobby), probably find them in the plumbing section, but watch the quality, some are crap and soft and useless, not like the old "Jubulee" we are used to. Could try a tool/machinery shop if you have one local, probably better quality.

I wouldn't expect to find them in the car section. Perhaps with plumbing, perhaps with garden stuff, perhaps with tools. I'd probably spend an hour looking on every single shelf and then find them in what turns out, retrospectively, to have been the obvious logical place.

Under Swiss logic, at least

Re: Where to find jubilee clips?

Plumbing section is where you can find them

Hornbach has a huge range - which probably doesn't help you much unless you are down that way (Galganen, SZ)

You're right, but probably helps other people nearby. I will try Jumbo again today.

Re: Where to find jubilee clips?

I think that it would be quicker if you first find out the German for Jubilee Clip (I have no idea myself), then you could just show a piece of paper to the information desk at Bauhaus or Jumbo. Did this with some weird plaster / mortar I needed for a cash in hand plumber who was doing some work for me.

Google shows:-
Schlauchbinder or Schlauchschelle is a hose clip - the first is masculine, the second is feminine (I presume they mean hosepipe clip).

However, during my recent search for aluminium window shutters (for outside), I discovered that the literal translation was not the High German or Swiss German name for them.

Maybe someone else can help on this.

Re: Where to find jubilee clips?

Got some lame ones from Jumbo today, but for what I need them should be ok. Showed the guy a picture on the iPhone (paper? was that a joke? ) and he told me it's a Schlauchbinder. Funny thing is I asked to Swiss friends before and none had any clue what it's called.

Oh...you mean a 'hose clamp'.

I dated a mechanic for 18 months. I was kind of impressed with myself that I knew exactly what you meant by 'jubilee clip'.... husband (not the mechanic), said "Oh, you mean a 'hose clamp'"....

Glad you got what you needed...nothing like pulling the car to pieces and then discovering you need something from the hardware store ....been there, done that, and it was a long walk too!
