You can travel one way within a 1 hour time frame, and only in the zones for which your ticket is valid. In the back of the ticket it is clarified that a return ticket must be bought separately.

Ah, when I last read that page ecb linked to, I saw the phrase "Halbtax-Abo, Junior-/ Enkelkarte ungültig" and assumed that I couldn't use a Halbtax.

I now realise that it's only if you use the tickets for cross-border travel. Cool. This thread turned out to be very useful!
